  • To be inclusive of all diverse and marginalised communities.
  • To acknowledge and encourage a gender specific response to domestic violence and family violence.

Philosophy:

We believe all community members have the right to live free from domestic violence and family violence.
We believe the best response is for the community to unite and stand together on a shared regional platform, underpinned by a social justice and feminist framework.

We acknowledge the significant violence and inequality experienced by women and their children in the SunCoast- Cooloola Region.

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is an abuse of power perpetrated mainly (but not only) by men against women either in a relationship or after separation. Domestic violence takes a number of forms, including physical and sexual violence, emotional and social abuse and financial deprivation.

Family Violence

Family Violence is abuse of power within the broadest range of family relationships, where one family member uses their power to dominate & control other family members. This may take many forms including physical, sexual, verbal, spiritual, emotional, social and financial abuse.

Children and young people are profoundly affected by family violence both as witnesses (vicariously) and as victims.
